Free Guide to Canceling Your DoorDash Pass Membership

Understanding DoorDash Pass Membership

DoorDash Pass is a membership program that offers subscribers reduced delivery fees and other perks when ordering food through the DoorDash app or website. The membership costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year, depending on which plan you choose. Understanding what you're paying for and how the membership works is the first step toward deciding whether to keep it or cancel it.

The membership typically reduces delivery fees to $0 for orders above a certain minimum amount, which varies by location but is often around $15. Members may also receive discounts on pickup orders at participating restaurants and access to special promotions. The membership applies to your account across all devices where you're logged in.

DoorDash Pass operates on an auto-renewal system, which means your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. If you have a monthly plan, it renews every 30 days. If you have the annual plan, it renews every 12 months. The auto-renewal charge appears on the payment method you have on file with your DoorDash account.

Many people subscribe to DoorDash Pass intending to use it regularly but find their usage patterns change over time. Work schedules shift, cooking at home becomes more appealing, or dietary preferences change. These are all valid reasons someone might want to stop paying for the membership.

Practical Takeaway: Before canceling, review your last few months of DoorDash orders to determine whether the membership fees are actually saving you money compared to standard delivery costs. Keep your receipt or confirmation number if you contact customer service about cancellation refunds.

Steps to Cancel DoorDash Pass Through the App

The most straightforward way to cancel DoorDash Pass is through the mobile app where you originally subscribed. This method takes about five minutes and requires no phone calls or email exchanges. The process is the same whether you're using an iPhone or Android device.

How to Use the SBA Portal for Payments →

Start by opening the DoorDash app and tapping on the account icon, typically located in the bottom right corner of your screen. Once you're in your account settings, look for a menu option labeled "Payments" or "Account Settings." Within this section, you should see information about your DoorDash Pass subscription, including your renewal date and membership type.

Tap on the DoorDash Pass section to view your membership details. You'll see a button or link that says "Cancel Membership," "End Membership," or similar wording. DoorDash may prompt you with a message asking why you want to cancel. This is optional feedback and you can choose to skip it or provide information. Common reasons people list include cost, low usage, or switching to competitors.

After confirming your cancellation choice, the app will provide a confirmation message stating when your membership ends. Important: canceling immediately stops your membership benefits, but you won't receive a refund for the current billing period. If you cancel on the 15th of the month but your billing cycle renews on the 25th, you lose access to benefits for those remaining 10 days without compensation. This is why timing your cancellation matters.

Practical Takeaway: Consider canceling DoorDash Pass shortly after your renewal date if you want to maximize the membership period before losing access. This way you'll have full use of the benefits for the entire month or year you've paid for.

Canceling Through the DoorDash Website

If you prefer managing your membership through a computer or want to keep a digital record of your cancellation, you can cancel DoorDash Pass through the website. This method works on any device with internet access and produces the same result as using the mobile app.

Visit the DoorDash website and log in using your email address and password. Once logged in, look for account settings or profile options, typically found in a menu at the top right of the page or in a hamburger menu on mobile browsers. Select "Account Settings" or "Payment Methods" depending on how DoorDash structures its navigation at the time you're accessing it.

Find the section showing your active subscriptions or memberships. You should see your DoorDash Pass listed with details about your current plan, renewal date, and billing amount. Click on the option to manage or edit this membership. A new page will load showing you your membership specifics and providing a cancellation option.

The website version of cancellation works identically to the app—you'll confirm that you want to cancel, possibly answer questions about your reason, and receive a confirmation that your membership has been terminated. The website may be helpful if you want to screenshot or print confirmation of your cancellation for your records. Some people save these confirmations in case they're later charged and need documentation to dispute the charge.

Practical Takeaway: Screenshot or bookmark your cancellation confirmation page, especially if you completed the process on the website. Having this documentation protects you if DoorDash continues charging you after cancellation—you'll have proof the account was canceled.

What Happens After You Cancel

Once you've successfully canceled DoorDash Pass, your membership benefits end immediately, though the exact timing depends on when you initiated the cancellation. Standard delivery fees return to normal rates. Orders with minimum purchase amounts that previously qualified for $0 delivery fees will now incur standard delivery charges, which typically range from $1.99 to $5.99 depending on distance and demand.

Your account information, order history, and payment methods remain on file with DoorDash. Canceling your membership doesn't delete your account or any saved preferences. This means you can still place orders without DoorDash Pass, and you can resubscribe to DoorDash Pass at any point in the future if you choose to do so.

DoorDash may send you promotional emails after cancellation, sometimes offering deals or discounts to convince you to return. These might include offers like "$5 off your first order after reactivating membership" or "Get DoorDash Pass for $0.99 for your first month." These are marketing tactics but are occasionally worth considering if you're considering reactivating membership anyway.

You won't receive a refund for the remainder of your current billing period when you cancel, regardless of the platform you used to cancel. This is stated in DoorDash's terms of service. If you were charged for an upcoming renewal cycle after canceling, this would typically indicate a cancellation error, and you should contact DoorDash customer service to report the issue and request a refund.

Practical Takeaway: Check your bank or credit card statement 5-7 days after canceling to verify that DoorDash has stopped charging you. If you see a charge after your cancellation date, contact customer service with your cancellation confirmation details to dispute the charge.

Contacting DoorDash Customer Service About Cancellation Issues

If you experience problems canceling your DoorDash Pass membership through the app or website, or if you have questions about refunds, you can reach DoorDash customer service through several channels. The company maintains dedicated support systems for account and billing issues.

Within the DoorDash app, tap your account icon and scroll down to find "Help" or "Customer Support." This section typically includes FAQs about cancellation and a button to contact support. You can usually submit a message describing your issue, and a representative will respond within 24-48 hours. This written format creates a record of your communication that you can reference later if needed.

DoorDash also operates a support website at help.doordash.com where you can search articles about membership cancellation or submit support tickets. This resource includes instructions for various account issues and troubleshooting steps that may resolve common problems without needing to wait for a representative.

Phone support is available through the app—navigate to Help and select the option to contact support by phone. Wait times vary depending on the time of day and volume of requests, ranging from immediate to 30+ minutes. Phone support can be useful if you need a representative to manually process your cancellation or investigate a billing issue.

When contacting customer service, have the following information ready: your account email address, the approximate date you subscribed to DoorDash Pass, your membership plan type (monthly or annual), and the date you attempted to cancel. This information helps the representative locate your account quickly and address your specific situation.
